Road Testing the Isuzu KB

The new 6th Generation Isuzu KB range of bakkies brings with its whirlwind of change including a massive improvement in everything from engine emissions to towing capacity. Besides noticeable improvements in ride comfort and stability, the new Isuzu tips the scales in its favour when it comes to towing capacity. The Isuzu KB is capable of towing a massive three and a half tons with a braked trailer and Isuzu’s integrated tow bar, which is also rated at 3,5 tons.  I drove the top-of-the range Isuzu KB 300 equipped with the very smooth 3,0 litre D-TEQ diesel engine, producing 130 kilowatts of raw power. The manual shift was smooth as silk and the clutch was a pleasure to work. The new Isuzu has an impressive presence, it is somewhat larger than the previous model and Isuzu has upgraded the interior style and comfort to a much more luxurious space. Of course they have not lost any of the tough durability and muscular capability the Isuzu is legendary for, if anything they have improved on it. I have also had the joy of test-driving the KB 300LX DSL double cab with the five speed automatic gearbox. The smoothness of the gearbox made driving this big truck a breeze. Isuzu have improved in every category with this new offering, reduced fuel consumption and increased power production goes hand in hand with increased creature comforts and improved power output. The model range includes single and double cab derivatives with a range of engines to choose form. Whether you are intending your Isuzu to be a leisure lifestyle vehicle or a hard working business partner, there is a model in the range for you.
