Alfa Romeo’s TCT and The Mito
Alfa Romeo introduces their innovative TCT (Twin Clutch Transmission) system in the spunky Alfa Romeo Mito. Driving this dynamic little car was thrilling.
The sheer joy of the dual dry clutch six-speed transmission matched with the MultiAir engine and three performance modes to choose from, had me smiling like a cat that got the cream.
Nippy zippy cornering and pocket rocket acceleration hardly seemed to tax what is a relatively small engine. The enthusiasm that the Alfa Mito displayed was infectious and soon I impersonating that cat again, flitting through the traffic circles and zipping into tight traffic spots. The Alfa Mito was really fun to drive.
Improved fuel efficiency and exciting sporty performance are on offer from the Mito, the paddle shift is very responsive and if you are not in the mood for snappy gear changes, the automatic gearbox mode takes over with no prompting form the driver.
Alfa made a lot of noise about the Mito having start & stop technology, a feature that takes a little getting used to and saves you quite a lot of fuel if you do a lot of town driving.
For me the Mito was fun and sensible at the same time. A wonderful option that holds some uniqueness on the road.
