One One Six For Me
Test-driving the new BMW 116i, I just knew I wasn’t going to talk about the kilowatts this amazing new engine produces. I wasn’t going to detail the zero to a hundred sprint time it is capable of and I certainly wasn’t going to list a whole range of technical data with decimals adding to the mystique of their baffling nature.
But what I am going to talk about is the feeling I got when I drove the baby BMW in the range. It all starts with the firm leather seats that cradled my rather large frame with ease and comfort.
Familiar with the BMW interior environment I quickly surveyed the instrumentation and controls, taking note of the split aircon, slimline radio and music system dials and the functional approach to the layout of the cockpit.
Driving the BMW 116i produced a most pleasant feeling. The nimble acceleration could have convinced me that I was in a larger engine car and the crisp cornering and comfortable way the 116i dealt with road obstacles like raised pedestrian crossings increased my admiration for this piece of engineering art.
Beyond fuel consumption and running costs, I calculated why I would buy the BMW 116i, even though I am relatively tall and our family unit has four members, the BMW 116i represented an extremely logical option, before the nitty gritty details even got involved.
Talking value for money and the trend towards smaller cars and the idea of owning the BMW 116i was fast becoming a very credible option. Why not take one for a ride and see what I mean.
