CHERY INTRODUCES THE J3
Styled by Pininfarina, an Italian design studio, the Chery J3 is spacious and comes very well equipped, designed to be an excellent value-for-money offer. Chery only released one model in the South African range, the TXE, which is the top of the range spec. We previewed the J3 at the Johannesburg Motor Show and it was very well received, said Brett Soso, the Managing Director of Chery SA. The Chery J3 is endowed with a sixteen hundred petrol engine, designed and developed by the Austrian motor manufacturing specialists, AVL, in conjunction with Chery’s designing engineers. AVL is one of the World’s leading powertrain and instrumentation manufacturers and has amongst its customers clients like Audi, Citro‘n and Renault. The Chery J3’s ACTECO-series engine complies with the Euro IV emission regulations and is capable of 87 kiloWatts of power at 6,150 revs per minute. The maximum torque of output is 147 Newton metres, which are available between 4,300 and 4,500 revs per minute. Chery made quality a priority with attention to elements like the electrical and electronic control systems in the J3, which are all supplied by well respected international suppliers like Bosch and Siemens. The Chery J3 has a five-speed manual gearbox and is backed up by an extensive after-sales support system, which includes a 3-year or 100 000km warranty, 3-year or 75 000km service plan and three year’s roadside assistance.
