It’s The Gran Max
Test driving the Daihatsu Gran Max I found myself trundling down the N2 South going past Riverhorse Valley. As I looked across at the myriad splay of industrial development I began to think about the practical applications of the Gran Max and it’s features and benefits. Foremost in my mind came the drop sides that made loading the Gran Max so easy. With the cab pushed so far forward the Gran Max has optimised the loading space and with its one ton capacity it really appeals to commercial buyers. The Gran Max sells at almost the same price of some half-ton bakkies with less than half the load space and only half the carrying capacity. It’s a no brainer. More thinking and I was onto the running costs, with parts pricing relatively low and Daihatsu’s six Total Economy Run wins under their belt the Gran Max was shining like a diamond. Reliability was a design consideration when Daihatsu produced the Gran Max and the built in clutch protection mechanism is an indication of this element.
