So You Want A Double Cab
Looking for a rugged, reliable and tough double cab that will still give you the comfort and safety you expect from this model segment. Then let me suggest the new Steed 5 VGT two-litre Double Cab from GWM Steed. I recently test drove this derivative and put it through its paces. The comfort level complete with plush leather upholstery, radio CD with MP3 player, air conditioning and power steering were just for starters. Electric windows and rear view mirrors brought the Steed 5 up to par with its competitors in this segment. I had the ABS brakes with EBD gripping the wet tar surfaces as I put the Steed 5 through some standard emergency braking procedures, but it was when I took the Steed 5 off the tar surfaces and onto some slippery clay like dirt roads, which had been soaked with the recent weeks of rain, that the Steed really showed its mettle. Slipping downhill I found added confidence in this double cab as the ABS brakes shuddered and held my slide in a controlled descent. The 2.0 litre VGT motor provides ample power at 100 kilowatts and plenty of torque at 310 Newton metres. I took the 4X2 version off road and was impressed with its rugged performance; I cant wait to put the 4X4 version through its paces. The 4X2 performed perfectly well confirming for me that the need for 4X4 only arises in extreme circumstances. I will find those when I test the 4X4 Steed 5.
