Come On Over To Santa Fe
Santa Fe, the capitol of New Mexico in the United States is not the Santa Fe I am inviting you to come on over to. I am extending the invitation to take a journey of a different sort, in a Santa Fe. The remarkable new Hyundai Santa Fe is the third generation of this luxury Sports Utility Vehicle, and I can say that they have really raised the bar in producing this latest version. At the launch of this new car in Paternoster, in the Western Cape, earlier this year, I had the chance to take the Santa Fe across some very soft fine white beach sand and I smiled the whole way through. The Santa Fe put a smile on my face once again when I had the pleasure of taking it for a road test for a week. I fell in love. The smooth soft leather of the seats, the eager clip of the gear lever as I selected my choice, the plush swish of the sun visor as it opened up a sky so big it made my heart swell. The new Santa Fe’s 2,2 litre, four cylinder turbo diesel engine was quiet and powerful and seemed to do everything I asked of it with ample ability to spare and in an efficient economical manner. The 145 kilowatts of power and 436 Newton metres of torque only consumed 8,3 litres of fuel for 100 kilometres and the Premium FWD derivative only uses 8 litres per 100. Now that’s economical for an SUV.
