Cerato Hatch Is Here!
Kia has been bombarding our senses with a constant stream of world-class products and their latest offering in the new Kia Cerato Hatch really lifts the lid on Kia’s intentions as a motoring brand. The new Kia Cerato hatch has been re-engineered from the ground up. Even the untrained eye can see the influence of world-class car designer Peter Schreyer in the provocative bodylines of the new Cerato Hatch. Peter is famous for his designs while with Audi and is now the Chief Design Officer at Kia. I had the pleasure of test-driving the Cerato sedan, both the 1.6 and the 2 litre and I can only imagine how thrilling this hot new hatch is when fitted with either of the DOHC four-cylinder petrol engines. First up is the Theta II 2.0-litre engine, delivering 114.7kW backed up by 194.2Nm of torque. This engine is incredibly responsive and sporty, with the small light hatch body, the new Cerato hatch is going to cause a lot of excitement out there on the tar. The Gamma 1.6-litre engine is not to be sneezed at, 91.2kW and 156Nm means that the smaller engine still provides all the get-up-and-go you need. Both engines use the Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system, which allows for reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and gives the Cerato Hatch that added power. The six-speed gearbox adds to the Cerato HatchÕs fuel-efficient manners, while providing optimum gear ratios for all conditions in either manual or automatic.
The modern motorist needs more these days, and Peter and his team have excelled with Kia’s four key concepts in their car development strategy. Innovative style, driving pleasure, product value and advanced technology have all been applied. From the luxurious leather to the two-tier dashboard layout, the new Cerato Hatch has been well endowed. A Supervision Cluster, a Message centre with trip computer, Rear Parking Assist System, MP3, USB and iPod connectivity. So don’t just sit there, take the Kia Cerato Hatch for a test drive, this should be your next car.
