Yaris It Is The Toyota 1.0 litre Yaris beckoned to me, from the shade in the driveway, calling for me to take it out for a test drive. I did not know what to expect, the engine capacity is only one litre, or fractionally not even that. However I was not going to let that stand in my way, I pushed the remote and the Toyota Yaris responded with a satisfying chunk as the doors unlocked. On the interior the Yaris T1 had funky finishes to the mouldings and lots of places to stash cell phones, iPods and all the other gizmos we now have in our modern lives. I was impressed with the space it offered and in moments the engine was purring. I revved and revved, not knowing what to expect and the humming of the engine reassured me with a tinge of a challenge in its tone. The one litre Yaris really surprised me, I was expecting a sluggish chug up the steep hill that takes me out of Ballito towards the N2, nothing sluggish about this baby. I had to tap off half way as the Yaris picked up speed. On the freeway, the little Yaris trundled along at 120 with ease. I was smiling with enthusiasm and took some time to look around the interior. I reflected on how the Yaris seemed to serve my purpose and that I really didn’t need more. I did not need to go any faster and was not permitted by law anyhow, yet the Yaris was keen. Consumption figures of the Yaris T1 added to the attraction of this model. The Yaris has built a name for itself in the Toyota stable and with the reliability Toyota is famous for, you could do a lot worse.
