Touring In A Touareg
The Touareg are traditionally a Berber people with a nomadic lifestyle, which they eke out of the Sahara dessert in North Africa.
In the instance of my road test, the magnificent Volkswagen Touareg, I definitely felt nomadic. I also felt that I could go just about anywhere. The deep soft sands of the Sahara would have been kids play with the muscular Touareg under my control. I was given the V6 TDi and at first I drove around in a dazed like state, not quite believing what I was experiencing. The luxury of the interior had me slack jawed and the energetic sporty performance of the Touareg soon had me wide eyed with wonder.
Agile takes on a whole new meaning with the Touareg’s acceleration. Fuel consumption again had me amazed with reported figures as low as 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres. The Touareg is also available in a V8 TDi, and this must be mind-boggling. I was so comfortable in the V6 TDi model I had started regretting having to hand the car back long before it was even time to do so. The Touareg seemed to meld with my being, seemed to become one with my desires, as though it could read my mind or anticipate my direction. Everything seemed completely effortless, even hard braking in the emergency braking procedures I was putting the Touareg through seemed completely relaxed and the luxury SUV took it all in its stride.
The Touareg I tested had more features, options, gizmos and features than the average Touareg nomad has sheep. Go experience the luxury and completeness that the Volkswagen Touareg offers.
