Volvo S60
– Pure Pleasure With Hundred Percent Passion
Driving the new Volvo S60 proved to be such a ‘revelationary’ experience for me, I marvelled and gasped at the advancements the car flaunted with such panache. “This was never going to be a conventional engineering project,” Stefan SÅ llqvist, the S60’s all-new chassis designer admitted, “not for a single second. We’ve crossed into territory where we’ve never been before.” The TV advert shows a precision driving exercise, achieving the most remarkable handling feats with the new Volvo S60. Most of the S60’s uncanny abilities come from the sure foundation of its fantastic chassis and then moves onto the various other phenomenal aspects of the car. “Words cannot do the driving properties justice. You simply have to drive the car to understand what it’s about. Preferably on a narrow winding country road where every sweeping bend brings a new challenge. That’s where the all-new S60 comes into its own and shows off its agility with sparkling enthusiasm.”
Sparkling enthusiasm is an understatement for me. Driving the new S60 was exhilarating. The grip the S60 seemed to have on the road. Tight corners seemed to be filled with confidence, and when Stefan says they have made it to the very top, I second his opinion. The S60 seemed to help me take the corners, and then I discovered that it actually does help you take tight corners. Corner Traction Control is the new feature, which uses ‘torque vectoring’ in conjunction with the car’s Dynamic Stability and Traction Control system. When I say sensational, I really mean sensational. You have to test-drive the new S60 to feel the spirited acceleration, the sense of total safety the car exudes. A ten percent increase in the speed of the steering gear ratios of the new S60 give the sensation of pinpoint accuracy. The new Volvo S60 is so dynamic I could go on and on and with a range of engine derivatives and build quality to rival any German competitor, the new S60 range is a must see.
